The Hakodate Citizens Arts Hall is located near the landmark fort of Goryokaku in the city of Hakodate on the island of Hokkaido, Japan. The hall is surrounded by museums, making the area a centre for arts and cultural activities in the region. Within the hall’s distinctive circular exterior wall sits a multi-purpose stage that has become a preferred venue for performances by top-tier artists and local groups alike.

To maintain its excellent reputation, Hakodate Arts Hall sought to replace its existing sound system. One of the main requirements was to achieve consistent audio coverage throughout the hall’s seating areas, without compromising on sound quality.

After consulting EION Ltd. and Gakki Onkyo Sapporo, Hakodate Arts Hall decided on an Electro-Voice sound system solution proposed by Gakki Onkyo Sapporo, one that addressed the acoustic and architectural challenges of the hall while aligning with budget requirements.

Electro-Voice EVF-1152D/94 and EVF-1152D/64 two-way full-range loudspeakers were selected for the main hall, complemented by EVF-2121S subwoofers. The system is controlled and optimised by an Electro-Voice DC-One system processor. An exceptional auditory experience is now ensured for every audience member, from the front to the back of the hall. The system provides the requisite coverage and clarity to deliver performances that pack a punch – all while helping to maintain the visual elegance of the hall.
