UK reggae legends UB40 (featuring Ali, Astro & Mickey) recently entertained fans in the tropical heat of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The Electro-Voice (EV) sound system for the show at Sir John Guise Stadium was supplied by Next of Kin Productions, and included 28 XLC 127DVX line-array loudspeaker elements and16 Xsubs, all powered by CP4000S amplifiers. A DX46 with FIR-Drive loudspeaker optimisation was used to manage all loudspeaker processing duties.

Consistent coverage across the audience area on the field was achieved via EV’s LAPS line-array prediction software. Using LAPS, an array design and its performance can be assessed until a final design is chosen. A bass array feature in LAPS was also used to predict the coverage of the subwoofer array; proper use of this feature will in many cases result in significant bass coverage and quality improvement.
