Maldives celebrated its 50th independence day on 26th July, 2015. The country held a Music Festival to commemorate the special day on the night of 25th, at capital city Male’s beachside next to Henveiru Park.

The event was attended by key political dignitaries, international artistes, resort owners, and people from all across the islands. The highlight of the show was the Indian pop band called “SANAM,” one of the Maldives’ favourite bands. SANAM was joined by a popular local artist Ms. Mira Mohamed and several other prominent local bands of the Maldives. These included Harubee, Shuiz and Equatic Vibe, with between-set performances by their very own DJ Paide.

The entire event was supported by Electro-Voice XLC line array loudspeakers. The system included Xsub subwoofers, CP Compact Precision amplifiers, and Dx46 processing. New EKX series speakers were used as stage monitors and centre fills.

Electro-Voice audio system for music festivals

With the crowd noise peaking beyond 95 dB, the Electro-Voice system delivered spectrally balanced audio throughout the show from 8pm till 4am the next morning. The organiser is very pleased with the system performance.

After the grand success of this event, the Republic of Maldives plans to invite more mainstream Indian and international artists to perform in their country to promote tourism through music. With the Electro-Voice line arrays now being a part of the local inventory, the loudspeaker system is the preferred system for future music festivals.
